  • This application is FREE.
  • Good security (calls are end-to-end encrypted).
  • A high volume of users – so you have a better chance of connecting with people.

Negatives

  • Only 4 users can join a group call.

 

FaceTime

Positives

  • This application is FREE.
  • Good security (calls are end-to-end encrypted).
  • Allows up to 32 people in a FaceTime call.

Negatives

  • This application is not available to everyone. Only people on apple devices can use it.
  • Security has been flagged with this application in the past, in relation to user privacy.

Skype

Positives:

  • This application is FREE.
  • Good security (end-to-end encrypted on video calls).
  • Allows up to 50 people on a video call.
  • Works on most devices.

Negatives:

  • Not end-to-end encrypted on regular telephone calls.
  • Security has been flagged with this application in the past, in relation to user privacy.

Facebook Messenger

Positives:

  • This application is FREE, but you do need a Facebook account to use it.
  • A high volume of users – so you have a better chance of connecting with people.
  • Allows up to 50 people on a call on the original mobile version.

Negatives:

  • Security has been flagged with this application in the past, in relation to user privacy.
  • Calls are not end-to-end encrypted.

Google Duo

Positives

  • This application is FREE.
  • Good security (end-to-end encrypted on video calls).
  • Works on most devices.
  • It has high-definition calls.
  • You can video preview your caller before you answer the phone.

Negatives

  • Allows up to 12 people on a call.
  • Security has been flagged with this application in the past, in relation to user privacy.
