Fastcom is excited to announce a major expansion that allows us to offer our high-speed fibre broadband services to even more locations in Dublin, thanks to the extensive network development by SIRO. This expansion represents a significant milestone in our commitment to providing high speed fibre connectivity to a broader audience.
Here's a brief summary of this remarkable progress:
1. Enhanced Reach SIRO's substantial €100 million investment aims to address the longstanding need for improved broadband access in underserved areas. With this expansion, an additional 50,000 homes and businesses in Dublin City and 100,000 premises in the broader Dublin area can now enjoy lightning-fast broadband connections.
2. New Coverage Zones Fastcom is proud to introduce these high-speed services to new areas within Dublin, including the bustling Docklands, East Wall, Walkinstown, Kimmage, and Crumlin. Residents and businesses in these neighborhoods can now experience the speed and reliability of SIRO's gigabit broadband.
3. Expansive Network Footprint SIRO's network is already well-established in various parts of the city, such as Fairview, Raheny, Finglas, Artane, and Coolock. Additionally, this expansion extends to over 30 suburban towns across the four Dublin local authority areas, spanning from Balbriggan in Fingal to Shankill in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown.
4. Future Growth SIRO remains dedicated to expanding its footprint further across Dublin city and county, actively seeking commercial opportunities to bring high-speed connectivity to even more areas.
John Keaney, SIRO's CEO, highlighted the significance of this expansion, stating, "The presumption that our cities already enjoy universal full-fibre connectivity can be inaccurate. Poor broadband can exist in areas of our cities and its suburbs, just as much as it can be found in more remote areas. SIRO, in collaboration with Fastcom, is rolling out our network across Dublin, city and county, because a real need exists to address existing connectivity blackspots."
This expansion was made possible through close collaboration with Dublin City Council’s Telecoms Unit and broadband officers from the other three Dublin local authorities. Lord Mayor of Dublin, Daithí de Róiste, expressed his support, recognising the importance of providing high-quality broadband services to all communities.
SIRO, established in 2015, is on a mission to revolutionise broadband access across Ireland. To date, its services are available to nearly 550,000 homes and businesses in over 135 towns and cities nationwide. The ambitious goal is to continue this expansion, with SIRO aiming to reach a remarkable 700,000 premises by 2026.
Fastcom takes pride in being part of this journey, ensuring that more Dublin residents and businesses can access the benefits of SIRO's gigabit broadband, as a retail service provider. Stay tuned for further updates as we work to bridge the digital divide and deliver high speed broadband services to an ever-expanding audience in Dublin and beyond!
